He founded the Shriram Group in the chit fund and transport finance (Shriram Transport) in 1974 and today the group boasts of a strong presence in all segments of NBFC sector catering to the individuals and small and medium enterprises. Mr. Thyagrajan has been instrumental in providing investment opportunities for global Private Equity Investors and Strategic Investors in the Shriram Group companies and who have been well rewarded over time. He has also seeded many entrepreneurial ventures and acts as catalyst for their success. He continues to provide strategic advise and oversight to the groups finance and non-finance segments.

Rangaswamy Sundara Rajan holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Jadavpur University and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is a Chartered Engineer and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of India.

Sundara Rajan has experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry of more than 40 years and a major part of it as CEO and as an Entrepreneur. He has built high technology organisations from concept through to Mergers and Acquisitions. He has set up the best- in-class high quality facilities and created markets for products in highly regulated markets such as USA and UK including establishing enduring relationship as a priority supplier to well know Innovator Pharma Companies. He has spearheaded and guided R&D efforts resulting in patents and Intellectual property rights. He was part of The Clinton initiative to reach affordable cost ANTI HIV drugs to Africa.
